Marriage has always required a lot of work, and no one will disagree with that. But when David Miller, Jonna’s husband, started to come home late, she decided to dig a little deeper. Her woman’s intuition is telling her that something is not right. She began with his laundry and discovered something that made her rethink her views on marriage.
She Met Mr. Right
Jonna Miller has been wondering if she would ever find her Mr. Right. She then met David. After their first date in 2012, Jonna was feeling all ecstatic; Jonna sent her best friend stating that she had already met her future husband. At some point, she was right. They got married but later realized that their relationship wasn’t the fairytale she imagined it was.
Things Were Happening Fast
After settling down for a year, Jonna and David got engaged. Shortly after that, she gave birth to their first baby girl named Delanie in 2014. Then in 2015, they decided to get married, Jonna walked down the aisle and tied the knot with the love of her life. With all the things that happened to them, things didn’t go as planned.
Memorable Thanksgiving Celebration
Jonna recalled how romantic things were when David proposed to her in front of a group of 25 people during Thanksgiving. It was one for the books. Jonna mentioned it was one of the most memorable holidays she will have ever experienced and plenty more to be grateful for in her life. Then everything changed.
Things Changed After Marriage
Soon after, she realized that marriage wasn’t what she’d expected it to be. For starters, she never recalled her mom reading to her anything about Snow White or Cinderella dealing with the Prince’s dirty laundry. That might’ve bugged her, but there was more.
Keeping Her Sanity
Jonna was a small-town girl from Indiana, but the one thing that’s very distinct about her, and wasn’t little at all, was her mouth! Jonna was the kind of person that can never prevent herself from saying how she felt about anything. She also had a wicked sense of humor and loved to instigate, but having a good sense of humor wasn’t the outlet she badly needed. It was something else.
Venting to People Online
Jonna was having a hard time dealing with the hidden downsides of marriage, so she created a blog to vent and titled it, “The Blunt Blonde.” She then began to write, “I don’t ever recall the Prince in the fairytale having rough cracked hands and crows feet before he turned 30.” but those weren’t the only warning signs.
She is Starting to Feel Lonely
It is never a good sign when a wife starts resenting her husband, but that’s what Jonna felt. She felt like she was the only one raising their daughter, and she hated that. Being a parent should always be a shared experience, but David wasn’t keeping up with his end of the bargain, and she was about to burst. She has been trying to run things smoothly, and David has been absent most of the time.
Her Husband is Always MIA
Jonna knew that being a wife with a kid wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies, but she didn’t realize it was going to be too complicated, notably since David was always missing, and she was just stuck at home alone with their kid. It didn’t help, also, that David only offered her minimal comfort with the situation. David seems not to be comfortable talking about the situation they are in, and she can no longer just sit back and do everything around the house.
Always Too Tired to When He Comes Home
“I don’t recall the Prince missing dinners because he was working overtime or going to bed shortly after he came home to his Palace because he was so exhausted,” she added to her blog. Something wasn’t adding up, but it wasn’t until she went digging through his laundry that Jonna started being suspicious.
Jonna is still puzzled by his husband’s actions. Looking at the clothes on the bed, Jonna grabbed one of his shirts to take a closer look. That’s when the truth hit her like a speeding truck. She knew right aways why her husband always came home late, and it left her shaken.
Seems Like They Are Already Growing Apart
They both lived in Leesburg, Indiana. They weren’t married that long, but everything was going great until David started coming home later than usual. Was it possible that he wasn’t happy at home anymore? A lot of questions are troubling Jonna. She feels that she and her husband are already growing apart. It was a possibility, but then, Jonna found the answers she desperately needed.
Getting Support From Her Followers
Jonna wondered if she was the one to blame for not seeing the clues much earlier. She was raised in Indiana and often joked that she spent lots of time making bad jokes and making awkward situations. But it was her sarcasm that made her such a great blogger, and she turned to her followers when things got rough. She can only express herself in the blogs since her husband is not comfortable discussing the issue that seems to be arising.
I’m Not Joking
She is known to social media as “The Blunt Blonde,” and her profile section on Twitter speaks volume. “People think I’m always joking but I’m not. I’m genuinely an unpleasant person and hate everyone equally,”. Her blog is just as snarky and sassy as her Twitter, About Me section. I guess this makes people more intrigued by her.
Those Sarcastic Remarks
On her blog, the about section mentions that she’s bilingual. It reads, “If you haven’t caught on, I am fluent in English and Sarcasm.” Some of her posts had a lot of people raising their eyebrows, for a good reason, and those weren’t the only things that were eye-opening revelations to her followers. People tend to appreciate her bluntness, no non-sense attitude.
Slave with A Boss Who Gives A Lot of Work
“I’m currently a stay-at-home slave,” she adds on the About section of her blog. She even called her daughter “the three-foot-tall boss who loves to pile on the work”. Despite all the snarky “in your face” type of humor, her followers were shocked when she decided to share with them what was going on in her mind.
Disclosing to Her Followers
Thousands of her readers were tuned in to see what she’ll write next. But one day, when she decided to talk about her husband and what she had learned about him, she left her followers speechless.
He Lived A Simple Life
David’s childhood was the complete opposite of what Jonna’s light-hearted life was. David was raised in an Amish community, meaning the distrusted technology and simple living was the staple of that Swiss-German religious order. Jonna never imagined that it would be a deal-breaker. Was she wrong to think that? Should she have considered this more before marrying her husband?
They Can Only Wear Bow Ties
Jonna recalled one Amish habit that David was continually doing that she found a tad too eccentric that she then shared it with her followers. “When I picked out ties for the guys to wear, my husband carefully notified me from a distance, ‘They can only wear bow-ties.’ I stared. He said slowly ‘Amish people cannot wear ties.’ I exploded.” Despite their differences, David was adapting a lot better to his new life than Jonna.
Technology is Not Welcome
Miller’s husband was the complete opposite of her. He grew up in a community of Swiss-German Amish, which lived a simpler life, and that meant turning their backs on modern technology. But she saw her husband was willing to change that for her, or so she thought. Slowly, she feels that her husband is opening up more to technology.
Not Only Good At Making Donuts
Jonna didn’t know much about the Amish lifestyle until she met David. She has a very simple knowledge about it, “All I really knew about them was that they made doughnuts that would slap your taste buds with the happiness you’ve never experienced before,” she wrote on her blog. Jonna had no idea what kind of husbands the Amish men were. She only hoped that she had realized lots of things sooner, but sadly, that wasn’t what happened.
Adjusting to their New Lifestyle
David’s idiosyncrasies often amused Jonna. She dedicated a section of her blog for David called, “You can take a man out of the Amish but…” Jonna claims that David was “well-adjusted to his new ‘English’ lifestyle.” But she hadn’t realized that she was the one who wasn’t adjusting to married life.
Working Long Hours
David worked gruelling hours at an RV dealership, meaning he often didn’t make it home until it was late. Jonna, being the stay at home mom that she was, kept her online followers satiated. But on her blog, she claimed that David’s absence made her conflicted and isolated.
Work Always Comes First
Jonna wrote on her blog in 2015 that after a long day: “Sometimes he will come home after a long day at work and I’ll be waiting for him to walk in the door, so I can yell ‘You promised me you would be home at five!’ As if he would rather be working than spending time with me and our daughter.” Jonna didn’t realize how overreacting she was at the time.
The Nagging Wife
“I know I’m putting him in a lose-lose situation,” she wrote. “He literally can’t win. If he doesn’t work late, we won’t get the new furniture set that I had to have. If he does work later, he comes home to a nagging wife who is desperate for his attention.” But while doing the laundry, everything became clear.
His Clothes Have the Answers
While finishing the laundry, Jonna created two piles. One was for her, the other for David. “Why did my clothes look for vibrant, clean and new? His were dingy, stained and torn. I stopped folding and just stood there, thinking,”. That’s when it hit her.
Busy to Provide for His Family
The reason why Jonna had to put David’s dinner in the fridge whenever he wasn’t able to come home by the time he had promised wasn’t that he didn’t want to spend time with his wife, it was because he worked long hours to make her happy. Jonna was feeling guilt-stricken when she came to the realization.
She Was Left Ashamed of Her Thoughts
“This mad provided more than I deserve. If I tell him I want something, very seldom will he tell me no,”. She shared on her blog. The wave of guilt was life-altering. She then realized that David had been wearing old, worn-out clothes every day, while her pieces of clothing were new and expensive. Jonna realized she only assumed the worst with David.
He Never Complained
“I get spoiled with the fruits of his labor, and he is okay with a pair of torn boxer briefs. I was acting as if he was put partying with his friends, but his laundry told a completely different story,” she wrote. But the icing of if all that made her sad was the fact that David never complained. “His heart is full when he walks in [through] the door and our daughter runs for him excitedly yelling, ‘Dada!’.” She then realized that she had to change. excitedly yelling, ‘Dada!'” And she realized how wrong she thought about David.
She is Feeling More Content
After Jonna’s epiphany, she then promised herself that she would try to be a more equal partner. From that time on, if she started to feel anger because he came home late, again, she would reminisce that he was sacrificing a lot for his loved ones. She encouraged her followers to think first before accusing them of doing something wrong.
He Wanted the Best for the Family
It finally dawned on her that David was giving up the extra time he could have used spending time with his daughter, working. Jonna realized that she was taking him for granted. That then became obvious every time she saw him with their daughter. The two loved spending time together. It was as if they were joined at the hip. David enjoyed every precious minute he had with his little girl because, of course, he knew there weren’t many of those moments throughout the day.
He Only Thinks About His Girls
“Sure, I miss him and want to spend time with him throughout the week, but I have realized he is offering me the most beautiful form of love there is… He works to give our family everything we need. He works, so his wife and daughter don’t go without, even though there are times I’m sure he does,” she blogged. Although she had a lot more advice to offer her readers.
“Do His Laundry”
Jonna’s random observation allowed her to realize that the resentment she felt towards her husband was baseless. She then continued to give more great advice to her readers. “If you have a hard-working man in your life and you can’t comprehend how much he loves you… Do his laundry.” And this resonated with her followers.
What an Amazing Reminder
Jonna’s followers related to her posts, one of whom was strongly affected. “This is an amazing reminder. I used to stay home with our daughters when they were little, and I used to feel horrible doing the same thing. This is an awesome perspective to carry,” the woman wrote. But blog posts aren’t always just about Jonna’s rants.
Gaining Popularity Online
“The Real Blunt Blonde” has a ton of witty and hilarious posts about the Millers. Still, a lot of her posts also talks about her husband’s Amish roots in length, and these had been very popular with her followers because everyone’s interest in the culture continued to pique. Although, Jonna wanted to set the record straight about one thing.
There Were A Lot of Misconceptions
“I’m not but my husband is” is one of the many blog posts that Jonna wrote about her husband. In it, she spoke about what had happened the first time she met her in-laws. She also clarified a lot of misconceptions that she, too, had about Amish people. She enjoyed poking fun at her naivety, using her wicked sense of humor. She also provided great tips about parenting.
Dealing With The Terrible Two
Jonna also shares her experience of being Delanie’s mom. In 2016, she had to deal with her daughter’s rebellious attitude during the “terrible twos.” She titled this blog post, “I graduated at the University of Toddler Town and Majored in Defeat.” And while her clothes may not reflect her hard work, it’s obvious she’s been through some ordeals of her own.
Full-Time Mom and Blunt Blonde
While Miller is busy being a housewife and a mom, she still finds the extra time to keep her blog up to date for her sake and her followers. She shares a lot of funny remarks and sharp points of view about being married with children. But she also likes to share all the fun things she and her lovely daughter do.
Trick or Treat is One of My Favorite Holidays
While being a mom can be exhausting, Jonna evidently spends a lot of fun with her daughter, like on Halloween, when she dressed up Delanie like a spider. But Halloween is not her only favourite holiday.
Santa is Coming to Town
Christmas is another holiday favourite of Miller’s. And even though her husband David is busy working all the time, she can always count on him, or instead Santa, to come to town and make her daughter happy.
Delanie Got to Meet Cinderella
David took the time to go to Disneyland with his family, despite his packed schedule. In Disneyland, Delanie got to meet Cinderella herself. But soon, the little girl realized that she was no longer the only princess of her castle.
They Are Expecting Twins
Miller shared in February 2019 that she was pregnant with twins. Delanie will now be a big sister. Of course, that also meant that she wasn’t going to have a break soon, but she would get plenty of things to write about on her blog.
A Family of Five
Jonna gave birth to twins in September 2019, one of whom was a little beautiful girl named Molly. Molly resembled her big sister, Delanie. The other twin was a sweet cute little boy named Reese.
Starting Again From Scratch
Now that they’ve got Molly and Reese, it is safe to assume that the Millers are going to have their hands full. Between feeding schedules and changing diapers, these parents are going to need a break pretty soon. Hopefully, Delanie, their eldest daughter, would be willing to lend a hand. But how would she feel about taking care of her new siblings?
Their Little Helper
Delanie has lovely times with her new siblings, and there are no signs of rivalry just yet. Jonna even posted on Facebook saying, “For those who have been following me for a while, well you know Delanie… she’s living her best life!”
Hugs to Make Things Better
Surely, no one expects Delanie to do everything for her parents or her siblings. After all, she’s just a little girl. So, when one of her siblings gets upset, she just hugs them. Babies don’t come with a manual. And it’s evident that this babysitter is just winging it. But she isn’t the only one!
Life With Twins
In the meantime, Miller and her husband are still learning and getting the hang of things while adapting to a life with twins, which means twice the feeds, twice the baths, twice the cries. Currently, they’re just riding it out and doing the best they can.
Flirting While Doing Chores
She is also trying to recapture the romance with her husband on Valentine’s Day. On her Facebook page, she joked about how she was trying to flirt with her husband by posting a video of herself doing different house chores. There is not a more significant turn on than a clean house!
The Blunt Blonde’s Take on the Outbreak
On Jonna’s Facebook page, she captioned a video she posted “Let’s not spread Coronavirus like it’s JIF,” and added #imnotreallyfreakingout because she thinks it would not make sense for her to lose her composure. As long as people become extra cautious, there’s no need to freak out just yet. In the video, she rocks a pair of gloves and a mask to get the message across.
Trying to Impress Other Moms
She has even shared videos on Real Blunt Blonde that talk about every topic most moms can relate to, like her hilarious video entitled, “Hanging out with a new mom.” Not only does she make fun of how she has to pretend she’s got it all together. But she always needs to keep her cool as she’s trying to discipline her daughter in front of a new mom friend she’s trying to impress. She wrote, “Hanging out with a new mom is scarier than dating. #ItsAFact!”
Taking A Break From Blogging
While Miller’s LinkedIn account indicates that she has been running the Blunt Blonde blog for almost four and a half years, the site itself appears to be down in the coming years. But that does not mean she will not keep her fans up to date on her Instagram and Facebook. Jonna may have been busy to keep writing on her blog… aww.
