The Chappaquiddick Incident
We bet they have heard of the curse linked to their last name. In 1969, Ted Kennedy steered his car off a bridge in Massachusetts. This accident has since become known as the “Chappaquiddick incident.” It is a good thing that he escaped unharmed, but it did lead to the death of his passenger Mary Jo Kopechne.

He Pleaded Guilty
After the awful car crash, Ted Kennedy did not report it to authorities until a couple of hours later. In the end, he pleaded guilty to the charge of causing personal injury by leaving the scene of the accident. The senator even wondered “whether some awful curse did actually hang over all the Kennedys” in court.
