Bob Backlund (1973-2007)
Bob Backlund was acknowledged for carrying WWE on his back until the appearance of Hulk Hogan. He was an excellent wrestler and a delivery expert who held onto the WWE Championship title for four years. He also stuck around long enough to take the WWE Championship title back after crushing Bret Hart.
