There is also another risk in energy drinks – the high levels of taurine, which can be extremely dangerous to people with kidney disorders.

The National Hydration Council revealed that chronic dehydration is the most common cause of kidney stones. The lack of water causes urine to have a higher mineral concentration, and these minerals can crystalize in the kidneys, creating stones. Although there is nothing specific when it comes to how much water a person should drink, an estimate of 13 cups for men and nine for women is about average.
