In 2019, Patrick Dempsey was interviewed by People and talked about why he decided to leave Grey’s Anatomy. On the show, he plays the dreamy Derek Shepherd. Apparently, he wanted to get out of the contract earlier in order to focus on both his family and career as an auto-racer. The actor explained that he “probably should have moved on” several seasons before that. However, he emphasized that there is no bad blood between him and Shonda Rhimes, even saying that it had been an “amicable” decision. The actor said that leaving the show was just the “end of a chapter” for him.

On NCIS, Sasha Alexander became known as Caitlin Todd. She decided to leave the show over the same thing that made Ruby Rose leave Batwoman: it was too demanding! Later on, producers talked about how Alexander informed them that the work was just too taxing on her physical and mental health. This was the reason they wrote her off. When the network released an official statement on her departure, it said that the actress was released from the contract so that she can “pursue other opportunities.” When talking to TV Guide, she said that she did not regret it.
