With parents and siblings like hers, Zain Asher did not grow up scared of the spotlight. She had her eyes set on a career in broadcast journalism since she was young. She left the United Kingdom to go into the American media. She is now the anchor of the weekend edition of CNN Newsroom. Aside from that, she is also a regular face on primetime business programs such as The Express, First Move with Julia Chatterley, and Quest Means Business. She has covered big stories like the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 and the kidnapping of school children in Nigeria.

Aside from that, she went to the exclusive Marlborough School for Girls in her youth. She is also the co-host and reporter of weekly MSNBC shows. She has been with the network ever since 1999.
