The pregnant beggar must have perfected the art of pleading because she had to tug on people’s emotions to get their cash. She had to make the strategy as a pregnant woman asking for change with her little kid by her side. She also had a clipboard with the words “Please Help” handwritten on it. Who wouldn’t feel sympathy for someone like that? People felt a bit sorry for them and handed them cash. Smith figured they’d be found too. She didn’t realize then that she was going to be crucial in revealing a much deeper operation.
