Chester Arthur – 152.3

Born in Vermont, Chester Arthur was originally VP to President James Garfield in 1881, but when he died he became the 21st president of the US. He is most known for establishing the Pendleton Act, which allowed citizens to earn federal government jobs from a system determined by merit, not political associations. It also added examinations to screen applicants. He also created a federal law that stopped criminals and crazy people from entering the country. He had an extremely high IQ of 152.3.

James A. Garfield – 152.3

James A. Garfield was the 20th president of the US and one of the smartest with an IQ o 152.3! That’s not all, he was also one of the only members of the House of Representatives to be sworn into office. Before being elected, he was a top general for the Union occurring in the American Civil War. He was also involved in battles such as Chickamauga, Middle Creek, and Shiloh. He achieved many amazing things like ending corruption in postal service and improving the navy. He also spoke for education and civil rights and chose several African Americans for political positions. In 1881, there was an attempted assassination against him, but he eventually ended his term after struggling with several infections.
