One For The History Books
August 15, 1969, the day over 400,000 people gathered to celebrate music, peace, and love, has gone down in history. The festival became a major cultural event, and news coverage amplified this. Even a popular documentary film about it was there. Today, the site of the festival in New York is the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. It is a museum that celebrates the ’60s and Woodstock.
Unforgettable Music
Woodstock featured performances by talented musicians, including Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, The Who, Santana, Joan Baez, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Grateful Dead, Sly, and the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, Crosby, The Band, Stills, and Nash & Young. A truly unforgettable event. During three days, a total of 32 acts performed on stage. There was a significant amount of talent that went to Woodstock on stage, and the music somehow represents the era there.
