Italian paparazzo Settimio Garritano had been the one to take the revealing nude photos of the former first lady. He gained access to the island by posing as a gardener. After he found out that Jackie liked to sunbathe naked sometimes, he headed to the said spot and hid the boat beneath some undergrowth.

From his hidden spot, he leered at her as Jackie went on to take off her all clothes until she was totally nude. In 2009, Garritano admitted that he did not initially believe the rumors going around about her habits. “It didn’t seem possible,” he went as far as to say when he spoke to The Telegraph.
