Dairy

Dairy products have all kinds of nutrients, vitamins and minerals, including potassium, phosphorus and protein, but consuming a lot of dairy, especially with other foods that are rich in phosphorus, can be detrimental to a person’s bone health if they have kidney disease. When kidneys do not work properly, consumption of too much phosphorus can result in a phosphorus buildup in the blood, which makes your bones weak and thin over time and increase your risk for fracture or bone breakage. Dairy alternatives, like almond milk and unenriched rice milk, make good substitutes since they are much lower in phosphorus, potassium, and protein.

Strep Throat

This particular infection causes your body to produce proteins called antibodies which fight the infection. Extra antibodies can settle in your kidneys, which results in the organs becoming inflamed. Normally, it doesn’t last long, but for some people, they have permanent kidney damage.
