Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)
Many processed foods contain GMOs or genetically modified organisms. The lack of studies makes it unclear what long-term health effects GMO crops have on humans, but studies on animals suggests that GMOs are related to serious health effects, including changes in organs, such as the kidneys. It is almost impossible not to eat these foods, but people are advised to consume more fresh and healthy foods, and processed foods should be eaten in moderation.
Peanuts
Peanuts contain oxalates – a mineral that is found in kidney stones. According to the National Kidney Foundation, the most common kind of kidney stones are calcium oxalate ones. If you have suffered from kidney stones of that kind in the past, it is best that you limit your consumption of food with oxalates to reduce your risk for having another stone.
