In case you did not know, it is not rare for producers to cast an adult to play a teen. This was true for Crystal Reed, who was cast to play the character Allison Argent in Teen Wolf. She eventually felt uncomfortable about the age difference between her and the character she was playing. You see, she was already in her mid-20s when she first started to work on the TV show. This was the reason she asked to leave the show in the third season. She, however, has said that she would be fine working on a reboot or spinoff of the show. She left to play Sofia Falcone in Gotham.

Steve Guttenberg

There are times when actors get tired of a role and can’t be bothered to care about it any longer. This was the fate of Steve Guttenberg and his lead role in Police Academy. In an effort to be typecast, he decided to leave the series. On top of that, he also grew disillusioned with the character. When the producers offered him a leading film role, he turned them down. According to the producers, he actually gave them a “firm no.” Aside from that, he did not take part in the sequels as well. Maloney, his character, would have been promoted to Lieutenant if he stayed on, but it was just not meant to be.
