“In case of rain, Diana’s dress designers made her two umbrellas. They had both ivory and white so that for her big day, they would not reveal the color of the dress. Both of the umbrellas were designed to suit the dress with lace, sequins and pearls. In 2017, though, Elizabeth Emmanuel said she was glad that they didn’t have to be included, as “it had been made from lightweight materials so that they were not water-resistant.”

The Emmanuels have made a backup and a duplicate dress for the Princess in the case of the gown being stolen or destroyed in addition to their original wedding dress. The alternative vanished after the marriage when the model was shown at Madame Tussauds. “It hung up for a long time in the studio, and then it disappeared,” said Elizabeth Emmanuel. “I don’t know if we sold or packed it, it’s been such a busy time. I’m certain that one day it’s going to turn up in a bag!”
