The door opened and Sarah, Dr. Allen’s assistant, came in with some equipment while waving her tablet around. “Here’s what you asked for, Doctor,” she announced, setting the equipment down on the counter. Her movements were firm and quick, almost automatic. He raised his eyebrows in surprise at the sight of the strange creature. “That’s new,” he remarked. Dr. Allen just nodded and continued to concentrate on his meticulous examination.

Nervous anticipation builds
My stomach was churning with the whole situation, as if it was impossible to contain the mixture of anxiety and anticipation. Everything was too intense – the mystery, the uniqueness and the uncertainty. Dr. Allen remained completely engrossed, sporadically taking notes without taking his eyes off the pot. I leaned back and took a deep breath to keep calm amidst the hustle and bustle the room had taken on.
