The tiny hole in the plane’s window might have freaked you out a bit the first time you were in the window seat but it is actually really useful. Called the breather hole, it allows the airplane’s outer panes to deal with the difference in pressure when the aircraft goes higher. The cabin stays comfortable and safe because of the breather hole. If the outer pane ever got compromised, there should be an air leak in the tiny hole!
