The Whale Shark Is Another Gentle Giant
Even though the blue whale is considered to be the biggest creature in the world, the whale shark is the largest fish. It is not considered dangerous. As a matter of fact, it is a playful creature that sometimes lets divers hop on its back. In general, it lives in tropical waters close to the equator. Considered a filter feeder, it mostly eats planktons. However, it is also known to eat small fish, krill, and small squid every now and then. The biggest one on record had a length of 41.5 feet and a weight of 47,000 pounds.
The Biggest Sea Turtle In The World Is The Leatherback
The biggest turtle alive is the leatherback sea turtle. Aside from this, it is also considered to be among the heaviest reptiles out there. Even though it is a turtle, it does not have a bone shell. The skin in that part of the body is simply exposed! The average Leatherback has a length of 6 feet to 7 feet and a weight of anywhere from 550 pounds to 1,540 pounds. When it comes to distribution, they are found in all the oceans. The biggest ones are normally found in the Caribbean where the average Leatherback weighs 847 pounds. We still do not know a lot about these creatures, but they mostly eat jellyfish!
