The Goliath Spider Is The Biggest Spider Out There
Also called the bird-eating spider, the Goliath Spider is the biggest spider when it comes to size and mass. It lives in the South American rainforests and resides in burrows. The female ones can live for 15 to 15 years. On the other hand, the male counterparts have a lifespan of 3 to 6 years. Even though it has received a cool nickname, the truth is that it does not usually eat adult birds. More often than not, it feeds on amphibians, rodents, snakes, and spiders instead. Even though it is venomous, the venom is not quite as powerful as you would think. In fact, its venom is comparable to a sting from a wasp!
On The Other Hand, The Giant Huntsman Is The Longest Spider
But the Giant Huntsman trumps the Goliath Spider in terms of leg span. It is less bulky, but its legs can reach a length of one foot! This arachnid is native to Laos and primarily lives in caves. They do not weave webs like its fellow spiders because they prefer to hunt prey instead. While it is a venomous animal, it is not generally thought to be a huge threat to us. As a matter of fact, you might have even seen stories about people who took in these huge creatures as pets! They mostly eat insects and the occasional gecko.
