Prior to his theater work, you might have seen Hughes in films such as Midnight Cowboy and Tron. He may have been in his 70s when The Lost Boys was published, but he continued to get parts well into his eighties. Maybe you know him from the TV shows Blossom and Sister Act 2. Hughes died in 2006, however. At the moment, he was ninety years old.

Dianne Wiest Played Lucy Emerson
Many directors, like Schumacher, have their own fantasy casts for their films. He was dead set on getting Wiest for The Lost Boys, despite his pessimism. The actress had just won an Oscar for her role in Hannah and Her Sisters the year before, so Schumacher thought she wouldn’t be interested in a vampire film. Nonetheless, Wiest does not seem to be fully opposed to the proposal.
