Texas – 33% Obesity Rate
There is a saying that says everything is bigger in Texas. This also applies to the waistlines of those in the Lone Star State. One in three residents of the state is obese. The number, of course, is even higher than that when you include those who are overweight. According to the CDC, the number of people who have a BMI higher than recommended is as high as 65.9 percent. On top of that, 27.3 percent of Texans say that they had been sedentary for an entire month.
North Dakota – 33.2% Obesity Rate
Can you believe that all the states had an obesity rate lower than 15 percent in 1985? By 1991, none of them had more than 20 percent. But at the moment, North Dakota has an obesity rate of 33.2 percent. Not only that, but 71 percent of the population is either overweight or obese. It is said that people in rural areas tend to be more obese. A lot of them suffer from diabetes and high blood pressure as well.
