Indiana – 33.6% Obesity Rate

In reality, the obesity rate in Indiana has not fluctuated all that much over the years. In 2013, the state saw an obesity rate of 31 percent. At the moment, it is 33.6 percent. It is doing better than other states, but it could still go lower. “The state really needs to step back and say ‘what can we do more of, what evidence-based programs do we need to put in place, and what is a more comprehensive approach to obesity prevention that we need to embrace?’” asked the health director of Trust for America.

Ohio – 33.8% Obesity Rate

The kids are not all right in Ohio! As a matter of fact, it is tragic that one in six kids in the 10 to 17 age group is obese. It is bad, but we think it is dismal that one in seven American children is obese. Anyway, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation said that the state remains “optimistic” that it is possible to “turn them around.” In 2016, this number started to decline. Unfortunately, it went back up again.
