Phonetic Alphabet
Soldiers seem to have a habit of spelling out words using the military phonetic alphabet. So instead of saying “j” or “d”, they will just casually drop “juliet” or “delta” into the conversation. You may have even heard a soldier saying it, casually, right next to you, and you wouldn’t even realize what the heck they were saying.
