Together with his friends, John worked non-stop to set down layers of concrete and to secure the rebar inside. They had to make sure that the structure wouldn’t crumble if someone goes down there. To stabilize everything, they had to keep pouring several batches of concrete. The whole time they were doing all of this, John was wondering what he might discover. Little did he know that something was going against him.

The unavoidable extreme Arizona heat is one of the factors that made the team’s progress slow. What’s worse was that nobody knew if the blistering heat could affect the thing that was inside the hatch. To protect themselves along with what was inside, a tent was set up over everything. They also set up a structure made of Sonotube cardboard around the entrance so that they would not damage anything while they were working. After finishing the concrete reinforcement, it looked like they were ready to make their way down, but something was missing.
