Before Michael Landon appeared on the show, he was best known for starring in Bonanza. While working on the western show, he started to direct and write. This was a great idea that came in handy once he started playing Charles Ingalls on the show. In the past, people said that he was tough to work with. At any rate, he has gone on to direct, produce, write, and act in Little House on the Prairie. If it had not been for him, the show would have been very different!

Unfortunately, he died from pancreatic cancer at the age of 54 in 1991. The actor left a huge legacy that includes acting, directing, producing, and writing a hit show called Highway to Heaven. He was also voted as one of the 50 Sexiest Stars of All Time by TV Guide. He got to grace the cover of Life magazine and talk about his career, life, and illness. His headstone in Culver City, California reads, “He seized life with joy. He gave to life generously. He leaves a legacy of love and laughter.”
