Rachel did not believe what Anna said, so she took things a step further. She contacted the New York District Attorney’s Office and sent an article written about her. She told them, “I think this woman is a con-artist.” She eventually got a call from them, essentially saying that “we think you’re right.”

Soon enough, Anna Delvey got arrested on account of her unpaid hotel bills. “WANNABE SOCIALITE BUSTED FOR SKIPPING OUT ON PRICEY HOTEL BILLS,” described one newspaper. She hired a lawyer and was able to get out on bail. After doing this, all seemed right in the world for her once more. She even found the money to go to California! However, they arrested her once more in Malibu and sent her back to New York. The reason was that she needed “to face six counts of grand larceny and attempted grand larceny, in addition to theft of services.”
