The Birth Of Jam Sessions
The festival is considered the birthplace of the American drum circle, which means a group of individuals come together and play music together. You may know this as a “jam session,” where the music that is played influences everyone to use whatever they have as instruments to make their own music. The attendees mingled with friends and strangers alike. Together, making great music and being part of the fun was easy!
Setting Up The Sound System
The sound engineer at Woodstock was Bill Hanley. He said the event had been successful. He made columns of custom speakers and placed arrays on high towers as well. It was arranged to entertain 150,000 people that way. The crowd was, as we know, much larger than everyone originally expected. The sound system, all the same, was still perfect.
