In-Sync was overseen by Sheila. At first, the drug had a bad effect on the lioness. Her rescuers were only driven by the need to keep her alive, no matter what the circumstances were. The group made the effort to feed Sheila by hand because she is unable to eat on her own. One of the caretakers said, “I need to go to Sheila for about fourteen days to take care of her by hand.”

Sheila’s condition did not appear to be improving despite the in-Sync team’s efforts. Her general health appeared to be unchanged from when she originally arrived. According to one of the In-Sync team members, “She had virtually no muscle strength; as a result, her knees would fall out from under her as she walked.” There was no doubt that the journey ahead was difficult.
