Ann Reinking
Ann Reinking was an American actress, dancer, and choreographer. She has worked in musical theater extensively, starring in Broadway productions such as Coco, Over Here! Charley, Chicago, Dancin’, and Sweet Charity’s Goodtime. The Tony winner, best known on Broadway in the ’70s for playing Roxie Hart in Chicago, died on December 12 at 71. Dahrla King, her sister-in-law, confirmed that Reinking had passed away in her sleep in Seattle.
John Le Carre
The British author, whose real name was David John Moore Cornwell, died at 89 of pneumonia on December 12. Le Carré, who worked for both the British Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), wrote novels, all adapted for film and television, including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Little Drummer Girl, The Night Manager, The Constant Gardener, and A Most Wanted Man.
