The actress decided to leave CSI because of the same thing that made William Petersen do it. In 2000, she joined the cast of the show in the role of Catherine. She played this character for twelve years before deciding that it was time to let go of it. In 2012, she announced that she was going to leave so that she can explore other acting opportunities. The writers decided to write her out by making her leave the team after assassins started targeting her. Her twelve-year stint on the show ended when she left to work for the FBI in Quantico. Needless to say, fans were upset to see Marg Helgenberger go.

Chad Michael Murray
Fans could not believe it when One Tree Hill came back without Chad Michael Murray. He had been on the show for seven seasons but was nowhere to be found in the eighth season. Even though he was a fan favorite, he had to leave after unsuccessful contract disputes and negotiations. He asked for a higher salary, but the network denied it. The numbers did not add up, which is why he chose to leave. Hilarie Burton ended up leaving the show for the same reason. In fact, the two of them made their last appearance within the same episode! Burton later explained that it was “not a rash decision.”
