On the ABC fantasy drama Once Upon a Time, Jennifer Morrison had a leading role called Emma. In 2017, she shocked fans when she took to Instagram to announce that she was going to leave the show. She said that she was already “at an age” in which she wanted to spend more time with her friends and family. The actress said that she wanted nothing more than to “be home.” Aside from that, she explained that she wanted to have time to “do other creative things” and “have a personal life.” Morrison and the producers kept her decision a secret because they did not want to damage the “experience of the storytelling” for the fans of the show.

In 2009, the death of Dr. Lawrence Kutner on House shocked the viewers. No one could believe that he took his own life! The character was killed off by the writers so that Kal Penn could pursue something that did not involve acting. When the actor talked to the LA Times, he revealed that he did not have any dramatic reason to leave the same. He said that there had been “no creative differences.” He simply felt like pursuing something outside of Hollywood because it felt like the right thing for him to do.
