Kansas – Adults With At Least A Bachelor’s Degree: 35%
Even though the Sunflower State ranks 13th in educational attainment, its book learning standard is the third-worst in the world. The University of Kansas, ranked No. 260 on Forbes’ list, is the state’s best school. Thankfully, the seeds of knowledge planted in Kansas’ mediocre schools seem to be sufficient for graduates to find jobs. In 2019, the overall statewide unemployment rate was 3.2 percent, far below the national average.
California – Adults With At Least A Bachelor’s Degree: 36%
The Golden State receives a gold star for educational excellence. It is the country’s third-best overall, with the highest average university quality in all 50 states. California’s top five schools all placed in the top 25 on Forbes’ chart. On the other hand, California falls short on the number of people who have access to an excellent education. It has the country’s highest percentage of adults without a high school diploma, at 15%.
