Mississippi is the least educated state in the United States, according to the WalletHub study, which ranks it dead last in education quality and second-to-last in educational attainment and overall university quality. Mississippi is tied with West Virginia for having the lowest percentage of people with a bachelor’s degree. Worst of all, it’s obvious that people aren’t missing school because there are so many opportunities. Mississippi had the country’s second-highest overall unemployment rate in 2019, at 5.4 percent.
