New Mexico – 31.7% Obesity Rate

For some time, New Mexico had been on an optimistic trajectory. Sadly, it looks like this is no longer the case. In 2000, there had been no state with an obesity rate of more than 25 percent. These days that would be considered on the low end of things. Across the United States, one in four adults is considered obese or overweight. To fight this, the state launched various initiatives to bring down obesity, particularly among kids.
