Quiet During Announcements
Along the same theme of paying respect when the national anthem is playing, it’s also common that when a soldier hears any announcement going off, they will still stand quietly to listen to it. That’s because they’re used to being quiet when their commander is giving them an order. Once they get into that habit, it doesn’t really stop, whether they’re at a football game or in the supermarket aisle.
Alternative Routes
Even when a soldier is just popping to the shops, driving to the park or making their way to the airport, they usually have an alternative route planned. Soldiers always have to be prepared, and never usually count on just one way to get from A to B; they might not tell anyone, but there is always a back-up route and plan in case something happens.
