Janis Joplin was another legend who was at Woodstock. For her set, she got $7,500! What most people remember is her performance of her hit song “Piece of My Heart.” Aside from this, on the second day, she belted other songs out. The whole band was flown in via helicopter. She told them to act just like it was a regular gig, according to the other members. She stayed to enjoy the festival after the show ended, just like the other festivalgoers!

A Surprise John Sebastian Set

A four-member rock band, popular in the ’60s and now a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, The Lovin’ Spoonful. John Sebastian, the band’s founder, was not scheduled to perform at Woodstock. There he went to be a spectator. However, when the festival’s organizers asked him to perform, he agreed. He performed and played three unreleased songs as well as two others as an acoustic guitar player.
