New Mexico – Adults With At Least A Bachelor’s Degree: 27%
While New Mexico is recognized as the Land of Enchantment, citizens are likely dissatisfied with the state’s educational system. It is the country’s fourth-worst city. It also has a higher percentage of adults without a high school diploma than most other states, and none of New Mexico’s best schools made Forbes’ top 400 list. Fortunately, the schooling comes at a low cost. New Mexico has the country’s second-lowest student debt, at $20,991, and the third-lowest number of graduates in debt, at 45 percent.
Nevada – Adults With At Least A Bachelor’s Degree: 25%
Studying in Nevada can be a dangerous proposition. It is ranked 30th in educational quality, and none of Nevada’s top-rated schools made Forbes’ list of the top 300. With a score of 44 out of 50, educational achievement is slightly lower. About a quarter of Nevada adults have a bachelor’s or graduate degree, and 14% have not completed high school. Student loan debt is one place where the Silver State shines. At $21,254, it has the third-lowest average debt in the country.
